Workshop Instruction
Practice makes perfect! We have found that "hands on" instruction methods are most beneficial. Instruction in the field makes it possible to quickly identify and correct problems. We spend the majority of your time in the field photographing and gaining valuable experience.

Both planned and spontaneous lectures are held throughout the workshop allowing all to learn from the collective experience of the group. Formal lectures are held to insure a clear understanding of the basics. Evening sessions turn to the discussion of the creative process, photographic philosophy and portfolio reviews.

The workshops generally last five days and are concentrated studies concerning the skills associated with large format photography.

Specific topics discussed are:

  • optics

  • camera movements

  • scheimpflug

  • sensitometry

  • contrast control

  • exposure control

  • filter & bellows factors

  • logistics

  • the creative process
